Happy New Year everyone! I know it has been a little quiet around here, but we have just been enjoying the Christmas season and each other. I hope you had a very special Christmas and New Years. I wanted to share some of the things we have been up to the last few weeks.
One of the things on our Christmas bucket list was to make wreaths to hang on bedroom doors. We decided to make them out of construction paper, for less mess. All the girls made one, and then we made an "ornament" for Joshua's bedroom door too.
We also made alot of candy and cookies this year! I have never made fudge or toffee before, but it turned out quite good. We made this toffee in the picture to give away to my husband's coworkers.
| Even Daddy joined in on the cookie decorating! |
One of my Christmas presents came early, and the girls were more excited than I was to get it! My husband has wanted to get me a Kitchenaid Mixer for years, but they really were just too expensive for us. On Black Friday I saw a super good deal over at Money Saving Mom's blog, I let him know and we decided to get it. After all coupons and rebates, I only paid about $135! And you can be sure that the mixer has gotten some definite use around here. :)
Our church had their Christmas program in December, and all the girls were in it. The older three were angels and my little girl was a sheep. They all did great!
Since my children are getting a little older, we decided to do a 'Secret Blessing' this year (kind of like Secret Santa, but without the Santa). We drew names and each child had a budget and we went shopping together for their person. It was very fun to see how they really thought about what the other sibling would like and enjoy. Here are the children after opening their Secret Blessing gifts.
We had Christmas at Grandma and Grandpa's house on Christmas eve. It is always fun for the children at their house, and we had a good time seeing family that we don't normally see.
My husband was busy making a doll house and I was busy making skirts when all the children were in bed. We cut it really close, but got it all done!
Our Christmas Day was very relaxing and low key. It was just us, and we got to enjoy our gifts and just being together.
| Look at that face! He is thrilled with his drill! :) |
We also had some nice days where we could get outside and enjoy the snow!
We are getting back into school this week, and trying to get back to our normal schedule. I had a great holiday season, spending time with family and celebrating the birth of our Saviour.
I will hopefully be getting back to regular blogging soon, and back to posting my menus, goals and recipes. There are a few big changes coming to my household soon, so I am excited to let you know about those too!
Happy New Year! :)

'A few big changes'...I wonder if I could guess what one might be!!! :) :)
